Hamlet by William Shakespeare:

                  Post viewing task :

Que 1. How faithful is the movie to original play?

Hamlet movie is directed by Kenneth  Branagh in 1996. A complete version of Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet. We can   not get much change indrama to play. we can say that Hamlet is faithful  to orignal play because there is  many new thing in the movie . Character of the Hamlet movie is totally same as  the original play of the Hamlet. There is Kenneth Branagh show the Victorian era and style of customer . Wear luxurious dress and rich ceremony in the court of Elsinore. Use some additional dialogue in the play . And interesting portrayal of ghost and  conversation. So movie is faithful to shakpearean Hamlet.

Que 2. After watching the movie, have your perception about play, characters or situations changed ?

After watching this movie we can see that many scenes in the movie are change rather than the original play of shakpearean. Hamlet is a protagonist of the play is very charming and yuong in the movie. Ophelia is  also very intelligent in the movie. Some situations is also change  in the movie.

Que 3. Do you feel 'aesthetic delight' while watching the movie? If yes, exactly when did it happen? If no, can you explain with reasons?

Yes , I feel aesthetic while watching the movie. There are many scenes which provides us aesthetic delight. When I watched movies I feel aesthetic delight in many scenes. I  feel aesthetic while saw the ice - desert  another is ghost scenes bexmcau ghost scenes , ghost is  a vital rol in the play Hamle. While Hamlet is very enthusiastic and powerful character.

Que 4. Do you feel ' catharsis' while or after watching movie? If yes, exactly when did it happen? If  no, can you explain with reasons?

Yes , I feel catharsis while watching the movie Hamlet. I feel Catharsis in the play when Hamlet return to wittenberg to Denmark. He came to khow that his father was dead and his mother grabbed wulith his uncle. His mother enjoying with his uncle.

I feel catharsis when Hamlet engaged I sword play with learties at end of the movie. That scene is very interesting while watching the movie.

Que 5. Does screening of movie help you in better understanding of the play?

Yes , screening of movie is better understanding of the play . If we can watch movies is easy to understand the plot and critical story of the play.  Hamlet play is easy to understand through the movie . In the movie Kenneth Branagh tried to covered up all scenes and dialogue of the as much  as possible. Through movie easy  to understand all situations and  reaction of the characters . If we can not watch than hard to understand and image character of the play

Que 6.Was there any perticular scenes or moment in the movie that  you will charish life time?

In the movie Hamlet there is many scenes which is cherish me life bt but one is a perticular scene in the movie which is cherish me life time .  In the movie at end of the movie Hamlet kill the Claudiaus and another is Hamlet play with sword against learties . That two scenes are cherish me for life time because Hamlet fight against learties with sword is very a anchorage to us tha how deals difficult situations at any situation.

Que 7. If you are director, what changes would you like to make in the remarking of movie on shakpeare' s  Hamlet?

If I get chance to director of the movie, I would like to make changes on shakpeare's Hamlet is that  I change Hamlet's character in the movie .I make more strong and powerful character Hamlet rather than the Claudiaus . At end of the play Hamlet bacame king of Denmark  and  he get married with Ophelia . Ophelia is also became qeene of Denmark .In the movie I make happy tragic end with audience satisfaction.

Que 8 . In the beginning of the movie, camera rolls over the statue of king Hamlet out side the Elsinore Castle. The movie ends with the similar sequence where in the statue of king Hamlet is hammered down to the dust . What sort of symbolism do you read in this ?

In the beginning of the movie, camera rolls over the statue of king Hamlet out side the Elsinore Castle . The movie ends with the similar sequence inthe statue of king Hamlet is hammered down to the dust. This fall of statue symbolically represent the dynasty of the king Hamlet. The fall of the statue is represent the end of death , nothing remains after death . In the movie Kenneth Branagh want to say that revenge is not proper way to dealing with morality . The statue is prescribed the death of revenge also in the movie.

Que 9.While studying the play through movie, which approach do you find more applicable to the play?

While studying the play trought movie  psycological and  philosophical approach is applicable to the play . Because in the movie Hamlet is a powerful as philosophical and psychological way. He was very sharper and intelligent character in the movie .

Que 10.Which of the above mentioned approaches (in pre viewing task ) appeals you more than other ? Why ? Give reason.

Which of the above mentioned approaches. I would like to appeal psychological approach more than  bacause in the movie Hamlet , Hamlet is a psychologist , he is very brave and sharped minded . He use psychology to take revenge is shows that victims of excessive melancholy . He could not do anything . But also he was delay with psycological approaches in the movie.
