Thinking Activity : Digital Humanities

Hello readers!
Here is my blog on Digital Humanities. Digital Humanities is part of our syllabus. Given by Professor Dilip Barad Sir.

1 ) Define Digital Humanities?
" The digital  humanities is an area of research, teaching and creation concerned with the intersection computing and the disciples of the Humanities."
" Digital Humanities can be defined as new ways of doing scholarship that involve collaborative, transdisciplinary, and computationally engaged research, teaching, and publishing."

2) What is doing in English Department?
Write three reasons out of six given in the article by Matthew G. Kirschenbaum.
Reasons:
After numeric input, text has been by far the most tractable data type for computers to manipulate. Unlike images, audio and so on, there is a long tradition of text based data processing that was within the capabilities of even some of the earliest computer system and that has for decades fed research in fields like stylistics, linguistics and author attribution studies all heartily associated with English department

Of course, there is the long association between computers and composition almost as long and just as rich in its lineage.

Is the openness of English departments to Cultural studies, where computers and other objects of digital material culture become the centerpiece of analysis. I'm thinking here far example of the reader Stuart Hall and others put together around the Sony Walkman that hipster ipadof old.

3 ) Do you think there is any need for it in the study / research of literature?
Yes we think there is a need for digital humanities in the study / Research of literature. Digital Humanities is very important to study literature and Research of literature. Digital tools are very useful for study of literature. Digital platforms are totally dependent on various types of tools and languages. Whereas in research language is also very important.

4 ) Can it help in study / research of literature written in local language (i.e. Hindi, Sanskrit, Marathi,  Tamil, Telugu etc) as it helps in the study of English literature?
Yes. Digital Humanities help in the study / research of literature written in the local language. On the digital platform there are so many languages that are used by digital tools. It can help to write other languages or it will help to translate one language to another language.

Holika Dahan In some parts of India the day is actually called Holika Dehan. There are other activities associated with the story of Prahlad, but the burning of Holika is the one that we can most directly associated with Holi. Fire burnt on the eve of Holi (Holika Dahan) symbolizes the burning of Holika. The story as a whole is testament to the power of devotion (bhakta) over the evil represented by King Hiranyakashyapu , as Prahlad never lost his faith. Bonfire Night is a name given to various annual celebrations characterised by bonfires and fireworks. The event celebrates different traditions on different dates, depending on the country.
