Hello readers!


Here is my task on English language Teaching. This Task is given by Vaidehi ma'am, department of English. ELT -1 task on Bilingualism, Trilingualism and Multilingualism.


Introduction :


ELT is a paper of semester 3 in master of English. In the ELT -1 we have the role of English in india. In this unit we have subtopics Bilingualism, Trilingualism and Multilingualism.


Bilingualism :


Meaning :

  • Fluency in or use of two languages.


  • Bilingualism refers to the coexistence of more than one language system within an individual, as contrasted to monolingualism.


  • Ability to speak two languages. It may be acquired early by children in regions where most adults speak two languages.

Pretty ( Greeting in English)

Jolie(feminine)(Greeting in French)

Joli(musculine)


Trilingualism


  • The condition of being trilingual; the ability to speak three languages.


  • A person who is able to use three languages, especially with equal fluency


  • Trilingualism consists of having, or expressed in three languages trilingual countries a trilingual joke also : familiar with or able to use three languages a trilingual teacher.

Multilingualism :


  • Multilingualism is the ability of an individual speaker or a community of speakers to communicate effectively in three or more languages. Contrast with monolingualism, the ability to use only one language. A person who can speak multiple languages is known as a polyglot or a multilingual.
