 ELT : Education and Technology

Hello readers!

Here is my blog on ELT: education and technology. Here is the main Message from videos that we take into consideration the context of Technology in education and ELT.

The main Message that you take into consideration the context of Technology in education and ELT.

Video 1 : Sir Ken Robinson : Changing Paradigm.

Every country on earth at the moment is reforming public education. There are two reasons for it: the first of them is economic and second is culture.

The problem with the students is that current system education was designed, conceived and structured for a different age. It was conceived in the intellectual culture of the enlightenment.

In this video by Ken Robinson two types of Academic are there..

Academic (smart people) and NonAcademic (Non smart people).

Smart people being besieged with information and porce their attention from every platform, computers from laptop, from Iphone from advertising and then now for getting distracted from what no boring stuff at school for the Students.

So, we wake up to students for their interest and education is modelled on the internet of industrialization.

  • Divergent thinking

  • Creativity

  • Revolutionary idea.

Video 2 : Sugata Mitra : School in the Cloud Sole.

In this video Sugata Mitra talks about school in the Cloud Sole. In this video he gives many examples of how to apply new pedagogy for students.

The school would produce the people who would then become parts of the "bureaucratic administrative machine". They must be identical to each other. They must have good handwriting because the data is handwritten, they must be able to read, they must be able to multiplication, addition, division and subtraction.

He gives many examples,In Tamil speaking children in a South Indian village, the biotechnology of DNA replication in English, so they applied new pedagogy and followed the Victorian norm, then thirty percent of students fail to use grandmother method. Then they are able to cover a hundred percent. So "Encouragement seems to be the key." Because of that students self organised and used self learning education.

Video 3 : Sugata Mitra : Future of learning.

"Computer doesn't care where       they are the same way"

In this video Sugata Mitra talks about the future of learning. He gives many examples and talks about the future of learning.

# Groups of children can learn to use the internet on their own.

# Improving English pronunciation - automatically instrument approach in which students speak and computer type automatically correct words.

# Self learning organized environment so that asked very difficult questions to students and sat down alone. So in the future teachers can be ' beamed' to other places using the internet.

# Learners download apps for learning and they learn to read by themself.

# Pedagogy - needs to include use of the internet.

# Examinations - need to focus on the internet and collaboration for problem solving and decision making.

# use the internet and natural discussion to develop a paragraph on the subject.

Video 4 : Salman Khan : let's use video to reinvent education.

In this video Salman Khan talks about using video to reinvent education. He uploads videos on YouTube. Here massage from his video is about how videos/technology are important for learning. YouTube videos also help to understand the topic easily. He gives video for homework to students in America, so students can pause video, repeat at their own pace and at their own time. Through video learning learners learn easily because there is all given step by step. They get immediately right or wrong answers.

Main message of the video is that if teacher teach student physical so their are spent 5% time but if they are use technology in teaching they are spent 100% time on teaching.

Video 5 : Marc Prenky : Digital Natives and Digital immigrants.

In this video Marc talks about today's generation. Today's generation goes first with technology. Today's new student of the day some refer to them as the N for Net Jen and D for digital Jen.

Digital immigrant accents can be seen in such things as first turning to the internet for information second rather than first or in reading paragraphs.

Digital immigrant speed to learn things like use phone, laptop, digital library etc.

The digital singularity there are now two kinds of content legacy content to bar the computer legacy for old systems and future content legacy content includes reading, writing, logical thinking and ideas of the past.

Thank you...

Faint brief cry and immediate inspiration and slow increase of light together reaching maximum - together in about ten seconds. Silence and hold for about fi...

Thinking Activity : Testing and Evaluating

Thinking Activity : Testing and Evaluating Here are some questions on Testing and Evaluating... 1 ) Write on Validity and reliability of the test . Reliability and validity are concepts used to evaluate the quality of research. They indicate how well a method, technique or test measures something. Reliability is about the consistency of a measure. Validity is about the accuracy of a measure. What is validity? Validity refers to how accurately a method measures what it is intended to measure. The validity of an instrument is the idea that the instrument measures what it intends to measure. High reliability is one indicator that a measurement is valid. If a method is not reliable, it probably isn’t valid. For example , imagine a researcher who decides to measure the intelligence of a sample of students. A test of physical strength, like how many push-ups a student could do, would be an invalid test of intelligence.  Types of validity 1 ) Construct 2 ) Content 3 ) Criterion What is ...
