1 ) Self Help Book :
Chetan Bhagat started a book with an inspirational one! Before we begin this book he requests to write down something….
Your Fear
Make you angry and
You don't like yourself.
He gives three major things to introduce to us. So, the three points give life lessons: "self help book" means self improvement and self confidence of characters, give motivation to the character. It gives solutions to problems and is helpful for building personal philosophy.
There are several books written on the same motivational idea such as, Books like How to Win Friends and Influence People(1936) , As a man thinketh (1902) by James Allen, Think and grow rich(1937) by Napoleon Hill, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, The Power of Positive Thinking, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People etc. are self help books written for self improvement.
Basically the main intention of the self help book is to instruct the reader at the end of the novel by providing them a path for coming out from their problems. Along with its realistic representation of society,it also falls under self help books. In the novel all characters are suffering from problems in their life . They all need self confidence resolving their problems in their life.
2) Globalisation :
The Twenty First century is the age of globalization and India cannot go away from the impacts of such changes. Globalization is beneficial to development in the india. The economic way of the workers and labourers, the depression due to job insecurity, job dissatisfaction, black money, black marketing and many other such issues in society are results of globalization.
Globalization means the increasing interaction of people, states or countries through international flow of money, ideas and culture. In the novel all the six characters Shyam, Vroom, Esha, Radhika, Priyanka, Military Uncle work in a call centre at Delhi Haryana. The novel reflects globalization because the novel takes place in the fast growing city Haryana.
In the novel we have call centres employees who are techno-friendly. While working in the call centre they all have to work with computer screens and have to handle the calls. where they have to talk with foreigners on call the whole night. They are helping foreigners in fixing the problem of home appliances. They are connecting with the global world and work as a human resource, sharing Ideas.
3) Contemporary study of narrative structure on@tcc and life of pi :
Narrative styles are the same in both one night @ call centre and life of pi. There is unreliable narrative structure in the both novels, because in the one night @ the call centre from the very beginning the story is narrated by a strange woman who meets Chetan Bhagat on the train. Then she forced him to write the story as his second book. Chetan Bhagat then wrote the story and used one character Shyam for narration. In this way it becomes unreliable. So, there is a similarity of narrative structure between Life of Pi and One Night @ call centre. In the life of Pi, the protagonist told the story to the writer, similar to on@tcc like the woman in the train telling the story to Chetan Bhagat. There are two stories being told and it was upon the writer that which they select to write, the one is with God or the one without God. In both the cases the writer chose to write a story with God.
Thank you….
